The Mad Search for 1 Single Uncle Kracker Fan
I am amazed. I am amazed by the fact that this man - the not-so-pretty-boy Uncle Kracker - continues to flood our lives with crappy sellout singles WHILE being played non-stop on high rotation FM radio. Unless you're smart enough to listen to alt rock stations or classic jazz, you can't drive for 15 freakin' minutes without hearing the piercing noise of him belting out "Drift Away," Dobie Gray's once classic song gone bad. That is, unless his even more ear-wrenching "breakthrough" hit "Follow Me" interrupts.
So it comes to this: More than his music, what puzzles me most is how this man, this Detroit expatriate, has been able to achieve such mainstream success. UK is a protege of Kid Rock, yet seems to share none of his talents. I mean, I don't know one single person who likes him...and trust me, I know a few people with questionable (or rather varied) tastes in music. So if there is anyone out there who truly enjoys the musical sounds of Uncle Kracker, please write to me at michele@ieatrice.com and explain. I beg you.
