I Would Do Anything For Love. No Really, Anything.
Mary Kay Letorneau and Vili Fualaau: Poster Couple of America.
Letorneau, 43, served 7 1/2 years in prison for statutory rape of student Fualaau, who was 12 when the illicit relationship began. She was released in August to Fualaau, now 22, and their two children.
In what can only be described as a "WTF are you THINKING people?" moment, Entertainment Tonight has bought exclusive rights to their wedding. There will be a series of interviews within the next few weeks, followed by much not-anticipated wedding footage.
This is completely blasphemous! ET is portraying this event as some kind of fairytale wedding fantasy (see website for evidence), where two star-crossed lovers finally become one. He was freakin' 12 - T-W-E-L-V-E - when their so-called relationship started. Come on! Just thinking about this creepy affair makes me want to take a shower.
I don't think I've been this disgusted since CBS announced it will air the wedding of reality whores Rob Mariano and Amber Brkich (Survivor, Amazing Race, etc.).

Hollywood Walk of Shame
About a year and a half ago, I visited Los Angeles for the first time. While my primary purpose was to attend the ESPN X-Games, it wouldn't have been a true vacation without some good ole fashioned sightseeing.
The destination I was most excited to see was Mann's Chinese Theater/Hollywood Walk of Fame. Years of watching Entertainment Tonight, Access Hollywood and EXTRA impressioned in me a beautiful vision: a glamorous star-studded path, topped with an ornate theater every high-powered celebrity in the world has inhabited.
While the theater seemed alright, the Walk of Fame was dirty, worn and neverending. Stars of legends like Fred Astaire and Marilyn Monroe were slotted steps away from doors of stoner shops and tattoo parlors. The majority of names were unrecognizable, and were obstructed or strewn with random downtown debris.
Sadly, the highlight of this venture was seeing the star of Arsenio Hall. Woof, woof.
And then I heard the news...this past Wednesday, Ryan Seacrest received his very own Hollywood Walk of Fame star. I guess the HWOF committee will recognize any chump with $15,000 and a "body of achievement" - whatever that means. Remember folks, Seacrest is the guy with the failed TRL-like TV show, not to mention, the least famous personality on American Idol.
Who's next? Joe Rogan, MTV's The Real World Cast...or more likely, Paris Hilton. Ugh.

White Smoke Evokes TV Nostalgia
White smoke emerged from the Sistine Chapel's chimney this afternoon, signaling to the world that a new Catholic pope had been chosen: Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger of Germany.
While all this was being announced, I couldn't help but think of John Ratzenberger, the loveable mailman Cliff Clavin of the '80s sitcom Cheers. Ratzinger. Ratzenberger. Besides being similarly named, Ratzenberger resembles a younger version of the pope, and they're both Aries men. So uncanny.
Since Cheers ended its run in 1993, Ratz has been seemingly out of sight, out of mind. He's one of the least celebrated cast members, with no annoying TV ads (Kirstie Alley), long-running spinoff series (Kelsey Grammar) or terrible made-for-TV movies (Rhea Perlman).
Upon doing a little research on IMDB.com, I discovered that Ratz has in fact been working consistently these past years - just not in front of the camera. To learn more, here's some interesting facts about America's favorite TV mailman:
-He was born in Bridgeport, CT, and was friends with Meg Ryan's mother. Personal connection: Ratz went to school with my 2nd cousin Gerry. Two degrees!
-He is the only person to have voiced characters in all seven of Pixar's feature films, including the yet-to-be-released Cars.
-He is the only cast member of Cheers who actually lived in Boston.
Go ahead now...drink a beer and toast the new pope!

i eat rice...on MSNBC??
Somehow...somewhere...Jeff Jarvis - aka "Blog Daddy" - found my little ole blog, and featured it in a segment on MSNBC's Connected Coast to Coast Friday night.
That's right, national TV baby. What up Ron Reagan?!

For time's sake, you can skip the first minute or so of "filler" news...

Happy 50th McDonald's!
On April 15, 1955, visionary Ray Kroc opened the first ever McDonald's restaurant in Des Plaines, Illinois. Today, there are more than 30,000 locations in over 119 countries. Nearly 50 million patrons are served daily!
Celebrate the history of the golden arches and national obesity epidemic by visiting your local McD's today! Evil or not, they still sell the best fast food fries around. (Sorry Burger King.)
Diehards can attend an online webcast today from 10:00-10:30 a.m. CST, showcasing the opening of the new 50th anniversary restaurant in downtown Chicago. Click here to register.
And now, a brief list of my all-time favorite McDonald's slogans:
1960s - Look for the Golden Arches
1975 - Twoallbeefpattiesspecialsaucelettuce-
cheesepicklesonionsonasesameseedbun
1984 - It's a good time for the great taste of McDonald's
1995 - Have You Had your Break Today?
2000 - We Love to See You Smile

The First iPod & Me
Yes folks, even President Bush has an iPod.
Received as a gift from his lovely twins, the Prez primarily uses his "tool for cool" during bike workouts. Since he is crazy busy leading the country, directing a war (Iraq ring a bell?), and revising policy, his aide downloads all the music for him.
So what music makes George all hot & sweaty? The following is a sample of his favorite artists. (Specific song titles have been withheld as a national security precaution.)
Van Morrison
Alan Jackson
George Jones
John Fogerty
John Hiatt
Joni Mitchell
The Knack
Kenny Loggins
In summary, Mr. President listens to nothing produced after 1980. Like his agenda of compassionate conservatism, his iPod is in much need of updating.
That led me to ponder...what does my iPod say about ME? I generated a random list of songs (via "Party Shuffle" in iTunes), and these were the first five listed:
Poison - Bell Biv Devoe
Can't trust a big butt and a smile. Chime on, Ricky Bell, chime on.
Black Tongue - Yeah Yeah Yeahs
See, I like hipster music too. Even if it is played on MTV.
Angie - The Rolling Stones
Snooze, snooze.
Anthem - Phantom Planet
I heart Adam Brody.
Heaven Beside You - Alice in Chains
Heroin is bad. Put down the needle.
See, don't you know me better already?

Why Can't Pop Stars JUST SING?
Justin Jeffre, commonly known as the least attractive/ talented/recognized member of 98 Degrees, has announced that he will run for mayor of Cincinnati, Ohio. An independent candidate, he aims to bring the people of his beloved hometown together by revitalizing the downtown area. Jeffre wants VH1 to follow him around during the campaign trail, but shockingly enough, the network has not yet made a decision. Their schedule must be too cramped with other crap shows like Motormouth and Celeb Fit Club.
Is this more outrageous than Drew Lachey being top-billed as the main attraction in Broadway's Rent? Hmmm... Not quite, but close call.
In other teeth-grinding celebrity news, Britney Spears and her "fine hubby" Kevin Federline are set to star in a new UPN series documenting their courtship and wedding. I can't wait to see the part where Federline leaves his pregnant girlfriend Shar Jackson for money...oops, I mean love. Fairy tale endings do come true!

If I Were a South Park Character...
...I would look very much like the picture on the left.
Five minutes, and you too can animate yourself into the crude, jarring world of South Park, Colorado. Don't forget to accessorize, hi-dee-ho!
