Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle: An Asian Movie With No Kung Fu

If you want to see a good movie this weekend, go see M. Night Shyamalan's The Village. If you want to laugh your ass off, go see Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle.

As you can imagine, "crazy hijinks" ensue as the boys set on a late night search for reefer, girls and of course, White Castle. This movie is full of classic guest appearances - Jamie Kennedy, Anthony Anderson, Chris Meloni, Neil Patrick Harris, Alanis Morisette's fiance - and silly plot twists. The racial comedy is just right, and while oftentimes stupid, this movie never aims to be anything more. Go see this film! Just be sure to eat ahead of time, for you WILL be hungry...

Mo Rocca: Today's Greatest Political Satirist

Ah, the Democratic National Convention! If you managed to get past all the crazy white people dancing badly, the patriotic rockin' performances (I'm talkin' you John Mellencamp!), Ben Affleck, and the endless shots of Kerry's frightfully overrated daughters - you would've caught a few decent speeches by Bill Clinton, Barack Osama (Colin Powell, watch yo' back), the Reverend Al Sharpton, John Edwards and numerous others.

Except, of course, if you were watching the Fox News Channel, which thought it was more important to show their own talking heads blabbing instead of actual convention events.

If you happen to have a life and missed these speeches, CNN does a great job of recapping them via "Pundits Scorecards." Get past all the important people and you'll find hilarious commentary by the brilliant Mo Rocca. From his former days on The Daily Show with John Stewart to his present work on Bravo, Court TV, VH1 and numerous other channels, this man never fails to bring laughter to otherwise dry subjects. His ability to poke fun at people who take themselves too seriously, by joining their game, is truly unique and refreshing. Bring on more Mo!

And They Call It...Puppy Love

Well, he's not exactly a puppy, but at 9 years old, Buddy The Wonder Dog can compete with the best of them! Buddy was heroicly saved from doggie death row about 18 months ago by blogger Cityrag, and now thrives in a lovable home in the Lower East Side. Whether he's nibbling on ice cream, walking about town, or simply laying down to rest, he can't help but bring a smile to your day. I'm in love!

Viva La France

Zut alors!  Bastille Day may be over, mais that won't stop the Lower East Side from hosting an Orchard Street Celebration this Sunday from 2-6 p.m.  There will be la musique, foods de francais, and best of all, FREE French flag painting.  Ooh la la!

Al Franken for North Star State Senate?

Rumor has it that funnyman Al Franken is considering running for senate in his home state of Minnesota. While some detest his extreme liberalism, I find him to be a refreshing antidote to the conservative slander served by TV pundits like Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity and Joe Scarborough.

The question remains: Why does little ole Minnesota seem to attract such political celebrities? As you may recall, former wrestler Jesse "The Body" Ventura served as Governor of the state from 1998-2002. While Ventura's politics are more to the right, both he and Franken are outspoken former wrestlers with a comedic edge. Hmmm...

John Kerry, You Done Good!

John Kerry has finally put some shine into his lackluster presidency campaign by announcing John Edwards as his 2004 running mate. Edwards thrives in the areas that Kerry doesn't; namely charisma and personality. While many will criticize Edwards for his inexperience (he's only a one-term senator) and take jabs at his multi-million dollar income, I think he's just what America needs right now.

Plus, he's the son of a mill worker, and you can't forget that!
