A Korean Prodigy (Not Me)

Korean people are known for their acute intelligence and abundant wealth of talent, and 3-year old cutie Mo Kin is no exception. Check out a clip of this North Korean xylophone wizard in motion.

Be prepared to giggle lots.

Mike White: Swellest Guy You've Never Heard Of

His resume may be short, but the work he's done is quite impressive. Mike White is a bona fide quadruple Hollywood threat, with proven success as a writer, producer, actor and song composer. His small screen credits include writing and producing for Dawson's Creek and the incomparable Freaks & Geeks. In film, he has writing credits for movies Chuck & Buck (in which he brilliantly portrays lonely stalker Buck), The Good Girl and most recently, School Of Rock.

Now, he's the creator for the new FOX show Cracking Up. In this series, a psychology student (played by Jason Schwartzmann) moves in with a dysfunctional family to be their full-time therapist. From the premise alone, one might think this is just another trite version of Malcolm In The Middle. But it's actually quite refreshing! Molly Shannon and Christopher McDonald are cast perfectly as crazy lunatics, with witty writing and great direction to enhance them. It will definitely be interesting to see relationships develop and secrets revealed as the season progresses.

I predict Mike White's career will only continue to rise in the coming years. Look for him next to make a cameo in The Stepford Wives movie...

I Want My Viacom!

In an insane rate dispute, the DISH satellite network has pulled all Viacom stations from their distribution. This includes cable networks MTV, VH1, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central and BET, in addition to 16 local CBS affiliates in top-ranking markets like New York, Los Angeles and Chicago.

Thankfully, I'm a Time Warner subscriber and don't have to worry about this. But come 'on!! I feel for these 9 million DISH network subscribers. What's the purpose of cable without Viacom? Everyone needs music videos...Rocket Power...BET bling.

This is just a typical example of corporate bullshit winning over consumer needs.

Starsky & Hutch - Go See This Movie!

Director Todd Phillips (Brooklyn reprazent!) strikes gold again with the just released Starsky & Hutch. While a huge fan of Phillips' previous films - Road Trip & the BRILLIANT Old School - I had initial reservations about this latest foray into '70s nostalgia. Between annoying movies like Charlie's Angels 1 & 2, and countless VH1 strikes back marathons, I feel like I've already relived my youth 2X over. Enough already!!

But this movie lives up to the hype! The plot is simple: Starsky (Ben Stiller) and Hutch (Owen Wilson) are Bay City police detectives determined to take down Jewish drug lord Reese Feldman (Vince Vaughn). Along the way, they get a little help from some ditzy cheerleaders (Carmen Electra & Amy Smart), and a lot of help from street informant Huggy Bear (Snoop Dogg).

Stiller and Wilson - in their sixth film together - exhibit powerful chemistry as the "Felix & Oscar" (respectively) of police detectives. Stiller plays his usual jilted everyman to a tee, with some exceptional character acting thrown in. Wilson is as charming...and hot...as ever, only heightened by his "Korean-speak" scene. As one can imagine, Snoop Dogg basically plays himself in this movie, but it works, fo' shizzle.

But the highlight of the movie is Will Ferrell's cameo as a jailed drug associate. You'll get hair nets and mucho sexual innuendo. The rest is just too good to spoil here.
