Wanted: Grampie's Crazy Prophylactics

A new museum in Vienna is looking for old contraceptive memorabilia. In the event I plan a trip to Europe next year, I'll make sure to stop here in between visits to the Eiffel Tower and Transylvania.

Septuagenarian Hefner & His Superbunnies

No, this is not the hottest new indie rock band...it's the latest Marvel Comic enterprise! Hugh Hefner - while always "mighty" - will be taking his powers to a new level by appearing in his own Stan Lee created TV cartoon. Apparently, his mission will be to fight injustice. Hmmm.... I assume the injustice of his dating lifestyle will be exempt??

Ramps, Amps & MXPX - Oh my!

If you'll be in the NYC area this Saturday, your time will be well spent attending the Ramps & Amps Invitational on Randall's Island. This event showcases the best xtreme sport talent out there - Dave Mirra, Carey Hart, Bucky Lasek and Ryan Nyquist - and some great (MXPX) and semi-ok bands (Puddle Of Mudd) too. Oh yeah, and IT'S FREE!!!!

Blue-Eyed Soul Resurgence?

If you know me, chances are you know about my propensity for the godfather of blue-eyed soul - the one, the only, Mr. Michael McDonald. If not, you can catch up by reading my published ode.

Well, it appears that a few new artists - namely Gavin DeGraw (Clive Davis' newest protege) and Thicke (Alan Thicke's familial protege) - are trying to bring that soulful McD sound back to the mainstream.

For the offspring of a semi-famous sitcom star, Thicke harbors some serious talent. He samples the 5th of Beethoven like no other, and if the public can just get past his poor man's Christ image, we may have a winner here.

The greater chance for success though lies with Gavin DeGraw. He's got the total package - voice, musical talent, looks & personality. Plus, looks! And with Clive Davis behind him, his career is off to a gosh darn good start.

So if you have a few moments, check 'em out. White musicians with R&B sounds always need your support!

Seven Nation Nuthin'

THIS JUST IN... Jack White broke his finger in a car accident last week, and as a result, the first 18 dates of the White Stripes North American tour (including NYC) have been indefinitely postponed. I HATE when this happens! I repeat, I HATE when this happens! Argh!

On that note, I wish Jack a healthy, happy & speedy recovery!

Dumpy Love (But In A Good Way)

From someone who grew up across the street from a landfill, I find this story personally inspiring. Bling-blingers take note: It doesn't always have to be about the benjis!
